I think it is great that you are trying something new and stepping outside of your comfort zone. Truth be told, I can count on both hands the number of people who have met their significant other online, and are still together and happy. It is a totally legitimate way to meet someone nowadays. Anyone who would judge you for seeking a companion online is close minded and kind of sad.
Good luck with your search!

To comment or not to comment...hmmm.

I've debated the online dating thing. My friends have suggested it, but I always brush them off with some excuse (don't have time, don't want to pay the fee, too many crazies out there etc). They let it go eventually. I don't have the heart to tell them the real reason...that I too think "it's not supposed to happen like this". If I'm honest with myself, it's because I don't want "we met through online dating" to be the story of my happy ending.

But it's the 21st century, so maybe that is how it's supposed to be...our forms of communication have evolved from handwritten letters to text messages and chats on MSN/Facebook etc. And, because of that, I guess dating has evolved...I think it's just my brain and heart that haven't! :)

At (almost) 28 with most of my friends married or engaged, I look at them and think they did it right. They met "the one" in the old fashioned ways - high school sweethearts, in class at college/university etc...and I did the opposite. I went from high school to university with the person I thought I was going to marry...and now, I'm the "& guest" girl at everyone else's weddings.

And yet, I just can't take the plunge like you did. Instead I'll just be in the grocery store, at the gym, or out with friends...hoping boy will notice girl.

(Most epic comment ever I think...can you tell I can relate to this topic?)
